Day 2 of the Chicago Mission Trip.
We have the best young adults anywhere. We started the day at 7:30 am. We went to an underground missionary’s house in a Pakistani apartment complex. After 2 and a half hours of cultural immersion in Islam we then went out and experienced it. We went into different businesses and interacted with owners and bought food and talked with them.
Then we spent from about 1:00 until about 4:00 learning about Hindu. It culminated with a visit to a Hindu visitor center where the curator shared the history with us. Then we went into an actual Hindu Temple. This was an awe inspiring time for our team. To be in a temple surrounded by literally hundreds of gods (little g) was an emotional experience our team will not soon forget. In fact afterward we shared with each other our feelings and many felt anger aimed at them or felt almost oppressed. To be in such a satanic based environment is one to experience not explain.
We ended by going into town and eating at a German restaurant. Then after dinner we drove around downtown Chicago.
It has been a long day but I believe the whole team has had a great day learning about other cultures and religions. Now on to day 3.
By the way, this team has already gelled and is working as a close knit team. I am so glad God put these 9 people together.
